Searching the Deeper Waters along the "Drop-Off"

  • The Royal Charlotte Bank has a wide range of predators that hold near the bottom close to or on the "Drop-Off".
  • Jigging the Bottom is very popular for Amberjack, Grouper, Almaco Jack, Red Snapper, Queen Snapper, among many others.
  • We normally drop Jigs on structure in 180 to 350ft.
  • A bit deeper, in 400 to 650ft, we drop multi-circle hook rigs with cut bait in search of Groupers, Queen Snapper, among others.
  • On the way down or up, you will get hits from King Mackerel, Wahoo, Tuna, Barracuda.'
  • When there are small Tuna or Bonitos feeding on the surface, we drop them with a 3lb. sinker for the big Amberjack and Groupers.
  • On many days, when arms need to recover, we troll deep diving Rapalas and feather, targeting table fish like Wahoo, King Mackerel, Tuna, and Dorado, but on occasions get attacks from Sails, Whites and even Blues.

Where

  • On rocky structures 15 to 32nm. East of Canavieiras
  • In depths between 180ft. to 650ft.

When

  • Weather permitting, this is all year fishery
  • Peak season for Amberjack and Grouper runs from April to July

  • Circle hook rigs for cut and live bait
