The Royal Charlotte Bank is renowned for its monster Blue Marlin. On average, from December to March, during peak season, more than 50% of our Blues run over 500lbs.
The "Bank" is located just 300nm. north of Vitoria, where Paulo Amorim, on October 22, 1978, landed the 637kg. IGFA All-Tackle World Record.
For Blues, we usually troll lures on 130 or 80 lb. chair tackle along the "Drop-Off".
Although it has not proven productive, we also offer "Bait-and-Switch", and both live and dead bait trolling.
Lighter gear as well as "Stand-Up" gear is available for those that want to test their luck.'
For those how chase Whites, the All-Tackle Record is 300 miles south of the "Bank".E We can troll with light tackle for both Whites and Sails on the shallow side of the "Bank" with lures, ballyhoo, mullet, or live bait.
Charlote Fishing strictly adheres to the policy of "Catch and Release" of all Marlin species, be it Blues, Whites, or Sails. Exceptions are possible for clear World Record fish. A usual day will include a number of "Table Fish" like Wahoo, Kingfish, Dorado/MahiMahi and Tuna that can be kept.
