Dropping for Swords
Sword fishing is a relatively new fishery in the waters of the Royal Charlotte Bank.
On days with low currents and gentle winds, we focus on flatter areas near the "Drop-Off".
Other days we run 20 to 22nm. East of Canavieiras.'
For bait we usually catch fresh Bonito or Mahi-Mahi strips, but keep frozen bellies and octopus legs for insurance.
We usually deploy a "Tip-Rod" 50 to 100ft. off the bottom and a "Buoy-Rod" 300ft higher up the water column.
In Brazil it is permitted to keep Swordfish, so we usually enjoy a great dinner when back on land.
